California EV Truck Rebate Offers Up to $120K
California's new Clean Fuel Reward program will open fleet rebates June 26, with Class 8 electric trucks eligible for up to $120,000 at authorized retailers.

A New Point-of-Sale Incentive
California Air Resources Board is launching a new $1 billion rebate program for electric medium- and heavy-duty trucks, with fleet rebates scheduled to become available at authorized retailers on June 26.
The California Clean Fuel Reward is currently open for retailer enrollment. Once fleet rebates begin, the program will support public and private fleets buying new battery-electric commercial vehicles registered in California.
How Much Fleets Can Get
Rebates range from $7,500 for Class 2b vehicles to $120,000 for Class 8 trucks over 33,000 pounds GVW. Eligible vehicles include drayage trucks, electric semis, box trucks, delivery vans, and other fleet vehicles.
The program is limited to new battery-electric medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Hybrids, fuel-cell vehicles, used vehicles, and battery-electric motorcycles are not eligible under the current rules.
Funding and Fleet Impact
The incentive is funded with revenue utilities generate through California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard. CARB expects $250 million to be available this year and more than $1 billion in total rebate funding through 2030.
For fleets, the structure matters because the rebate is designed to lower the purchase price at the point of sale rather than reimburse buyers later. That can make the economics cleaner for operators comparing diesel replacement timing, charging plans, and California registration requirements.
