Amerit Buys Pro Reefer to Expand Canadian Reefer Service
The acquisition gives Amerit a Canadian refrigerated trailer maintenance provider focused on diagnostics, preventive maintenance, emergency repair, and compliance support.

A refrigerated maintenance deal crosses the border
Amerit Fleet Solutions has acquired Pro Reefer, a Canada-based maintenance provider that specializes in refrigerated trailers and transport refrigeration units.
Amerit said the deal expands its refrigerated fleet service offerings and gives the company a broader footprint for customers operating across the United States and Canada. Pro Reefer was founded in 1998 and has focused on reefer systems for food distribution, cold chain logistics, and temperature-sensitive freight.
What Pro Reefer brings
Pro Reefer's work centers on preventive maintenance, diagnostics, emergency repairs, and compliance-driven service for refrigerated trailers and transport refrigeration units. Amerit framed the acquisition as a way to add technical depth in a segment where uptime is tied directly to product integrity.
Ross Rachey, Amerit's CEO, said Pro Reefer's technical expertise and leadership team made the company a fit for Amerit's broader growth plan. Thomas Vandermeer, Pro Reefer's president and founder, will continue leading the organization into its next chapter.
Why cold chain fleets care
Reefer maintenance has a different risk profile than general trailer work. A late repair can mean more than downtime; it can create missed delivery windows, temperature excursions, rejected loads, and expensive recovery work.
For fleets moving food, pharmaceuticals, or other temperature-sensitive freight, the deal is another sign that maintenance providers are building more specialized networks around refrigerated assets. The question for operators is whether cross-border scale translates into faster service access when a trailer or TRU fails away from its home market.
